IT5011.10 Emerging Technologies in Cyber Security

This subject will cover the theory and practice of cybersecurity, especially the emerging trends and technologies used to defend against cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and cyber-attacks. The various cyber threats and how they affect business continuity will be covered. It will focus on how the emerging technologies, including but not limited to Blockchain, AI, and Machine learning, are used to defend against cyber threats and vulnerabilities. Case studies and use cases will be discussed and analysed. Students will apply AI technologies to identify and recommend

solutions for various cybersecurity threats in businesses environments. Some of the case studies that will be discussed include cybersecurity of the unmanned vehicle, blockchain technology for 6G communication networks, securing components on a 5G Core, smart cars, and over-the-air updates, as well as models and technologies to tackle hybrid threats in the cyber domain. There will be an emphasis on the cyber skills gap of the current era.
