Master of Information Technology
IT4001.10 - Computer Networks and Applications
This subject introduces computer networking concepts and applications used in modern computing infrastructures. It provides students with a comprehensive insight into the layered network architectures of OSI and TCP/IP and discusses the core applications of modern data communication systems. It follows the top-down approach of the OSI reference model, starting from the application layer and moving towards transport, network, data link and physical layers elaborating the core concepts, protocols, and technologies. Students will engage in laboratory and tutorial activities to develop skills in selecting appropriate network devices and protocols. Students also work collaboratively to design a network for a case study scenario.
