Master Of Engineering Management

ENG4004.10 - Project Management

This subject provides students with an understanding of the key processes and competencies required to successfully manage projects. Students gain an understanding of project management processes, including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring and controlling, and closing, with relevance to engineering projects. With reference to the Project Management Institute’s Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), students are introduced to the knowledge areas of project management, including scope, time, cost, quality, resources, communication, risk, procurement, stakeholder, and integration. By completing the assessment tasks, students gain contextualised knowledge that is relevant to the engineering profession and are able to transfer their learning and skills to other contexts. Individual students set up a program-based professional portfolio, which is to track and facilitate professional learning and development across all subjects of the MEM program. This is done by self-assessing their competencies at the start of each subject/semester, and setting personal learning goals to work on the development of their skills and competencies, and to be prepared for the real world of work after graduation.
