Master Of Engineering Management

ENG4001.10 - Professional Development for Engineering Management

This subject introduces students to engineering management in Australian and global contexts. The subject provides insight into contemporary engineering management in a variety of contexts and what it means for engineers to generate value. It enables students to identify and develop professional skills required for engineering management. Drawing on Engineers Australia Competency Standards, EngExec and Code of Ethics, together with the Protocol for Professional Performance, students evaluate their core capabilities and needs, and establish learning opportunities to further develop these. Assessments include researching contemporary engineering management. Individual students set up a program-based professional portfolio, which is to track and facilitate professional learning and development across all subjects of the MEM program. This is done by self-assessing their competencies at the start of each subject/semester, and setting personal learning goals to work on the development of their skills and competencies, and to be prepared for the real world of work after graduation.
