IT3600.10 – Advanced Cybersecurity and Defence Strategy

This subject prepares students for industry transition by applying foundational cybersecurity knowledge to analyse and defend against contemporary cyber threats affecting systems, networks, cloud services, mobile devices, and IoT environments. Students study attack methods such as social engineering, malware, ransomware, and system exploitation while developing skills in risk identification, penetration testing, ethical hacking, malware analysis, and basic reverse engineering in controlled environments, considering both user behaviour and technical system vulnerabilities. The subject also examines ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities in cybersecurity practice. By the end of the subject, students are prepared for industry transition by applying practical cybersecurity techniques to assess vulnerabilities and implement effective defensive strategies in organisational contexts.
