IT3040.10 – Data Mining

This subject prepares students for industry transition by applying the principles and techniques of data mining to extract meaningful knowledge from large-scale organisational datasets. Students explore data mining processes, association rule mining, classification, clustering, web data mining, and data warehousing concepts, including ETL, warehouse design, operational data stores, and metadata management, while addressing user, organisational, and stakeholder information needs through effective analytical and technical approaches. By the end of the subject, students are prepared for industry transition by applying analytical skills to transform data into actionable insights that support business intelligence, data science, decision support, and data-driven organisational decision-making.
