IT2100.10 – Cloud Computing and Big Data

This subject develops students’ understanding of cloud computing and big data technologies and their application in modern organisations. Students explore how cloud platforms support scalable data storage, processing, and analytics to enable data-driven decision-making. Key topics include cloud service models, distributed systems, data pipelines, big data architectures, and cloud-based analytics tools. Through practical, hands-on activities, students gain experience using cloud platforms to ingest, process, and analyse large-scale datasets. The subject emphasises the integration of cloud computing with data analytics workflows, along with important considerations such as security, privacy, governance, and cost management. Students also develop skills in interpreting and communicating data insights to both technical and non-technical audiences, preparing them for industry roles in cloud computing, data engineering, and data analytics.
