IT2050 – Operating Systems

This subject discusses about the role and functions of a modern operating system. It will provide Bachelor of Information Technology with the knowledge of how a multi-programming, multi-user operating systems operates. This subject elaborates how an operating system manages and allocate resources to different applications. The main topics included in this subject are overview of operating systems, process management and scheduling, memory management, swapping, virtual memory, paging and segmentation, storage management and input/output systems.
