IT1020.10 – Information, Organisations and Digital Society

Information, organisations, and digital society are increasingly interconnected, requiring IT professionals to effectively capture, process, manage, and present digital information across a range of media types. This subject introduces students to the analysis, manipulation, encoding, and retrieval of digital information, including text, images, audio, and video, while exploring how organisations use information to support communication, decision-making, and digital services. Students are introduced to markup languages such as HTML, SGML, LaTeX, and XML for structuring digital content and apply their knowledge through industry-inspired case studies and practical exercises. By the end of the subject, students will understand the role of digital information in organisations and society and will have developed practical skills in creating, managing, and optimising digital content for professional IT contexts.
