Bachelor of Community Service

This subject explores the role of community services within the mental health system. The major focus of recovery as the philosophy of service delivery reconceptualises ‘mental illness’ from ‘disease’ to understanding of life events that affect us all. Working with people with mental health concerns and those with different abilities is explored. It is essential that students have knowledge of mental health services, underlying philosophy of services and ways of supporting people with mental health issues as they undertake the ‘recovery’ journey. Community services workers will engage service users and carers of people who have experienced mental health issues irrespective of the particular service contexts.
