Bachelor of Community Service
CS3000.10 - Community Disability Services
Community services play an important role in delivery services to people with disabilities. This subject introduces students to working within the disability sector, focusing on examining theories and concepts as well as historical and contemporary service models and practices. Since the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) there has been significant change in policy and service delivery. Students will critically examine the foundations of the NDIS, how it has been implemented and the issues experienced by people with disabling conditions. The Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with a Disability (2023) has highlighted significant issues with service provision and the need for better care and protection
