IT5004.20 MIT Capstone Project
MIT Capstone Project is an industry-integrated, research-driven subject where students work in teams to address complex IT challenges faced by businesses or organisations. Students investigate real-world problems, develop evidence-based solutions, and implement functional prototypes, guided by academic supervisors and, where possible, industry stakeholders. This is a culminating learning experience in which students integrate and apply the knowledge, skills and capabilities developed throughout the course to address complex, realworld IT-relevant problems.
The subject develops advanced skills in project management, technical problem-solving, research analysis, stakeholder engagement, and professional communication. Deliverables include concept briefs, industry research reports, technical designs, prototypes, stakeholder feedback reports, and a final capstone report with demonstration.
Graduates of this subject will be able to critically evaluate IT solutions, manage project risks, respond to stakeholder needs, and communicate outcomes effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences. The responsible application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools is encouraged to enhance research, planning, and documentation, while maintaining independent analytical and decision-making capability.
