Bachelor of Information Technology

IT3090 – Software Development Team Project (This subject is an Industry Internship)

This subject is the culmination of the Bachelor of Information Technology thereby supporting students to undertake a comprehensive experience, reflecting, consolidating, demonstrating and applying the knowledge, skills and attributes developed throughout the course-based learning experience. The Software Development Internship Experience enables mastery of the subject matter, applying knowledge to real-world problems, and developing valuable skills relevant to degree-related graduate employment. The outcomes of this internship experience form a strong portfolio of achievement to demonstrate their competencies to graduate employers.

This is a 20-credit subject and involves each student contributing to software development as part of a team. The team may be comprised entirely of students, industry-based staff, or a combination. The subject involves regular project meetings to advise, monitor and discuss all aspects of the software development lifecycle, and will include observation and/or participation in one or more of: (a) software analysis and design, (b) programming, (c) testing, (d) client communications and scoping, (e) implementation of software solutions and/or (f) software marketing. Students will apply and develop skills and do practical work in one or more of these components of the software development lifecycle (a-f). Students must display a sense of responsibility for the project outcomes and skills for interaction with the client and with members of the team.

UHE guarantees unpaid internships to all eligible*BIT students, completed within this software development subject. Internships are part of UHE's commitment to maximising graduate employment outcomes.

All interns will have industry-partners and be completing industry-relevant, real-world work giving them valuable knowledge, skills and attributes.
